Spring has sprung!

I love my hobby, but life seems to be getting in the way these days....

Two weeks ago was spring break. Since I had the week off from work an my husband did not have class we vacationed in Texas to visit my best friend, Shelby. We had a great time and we even made a trip to Michael's! She caught the scrapbooking bug! I had a great time going through photos of our trip to the Bahamas when we were only 19 years old. I grew quite upset the day after we returned.... She went to the local scrapbook store without me! Yeesh! What nerve! lol oh well.... I guess I created a monster.

Here are some picture of cards for spring.

The spirit of Fall!

Here are some cards I made recently. The first two were submitted for the Priceless Scrapbooks Design Team. I was so excited to hear I am on the team for October through December. Enjoy!

Simple and Sweet

Ok, so I thought I would have tons of time now that I'm not taking classes! ...um Yeah, I was so wrong. Nick and I have been working out in the evenings most days after work for over a month now. I'm so proud of him! He's already lost 16 pounds. I'm feeling strong, but I know it's going to be tough to lose what I have gained since we were married 4 years ago.
Anyways...I though I would share with you a card I made for a friend's baby shower. It is simple and sweet, and the most unique at the party. : )
I used the Going Places cricut cartridge for the diecuts.

Graduation/Birthday Party!

This past Saturday was my graduation/early birthday party.
Lynnor did a Stampin' Up workshop and we made 2 gorgeous cards. A great time was had by all good food, crafts, and many laughs. Thank you everyone for coming.

These are the two cards we made. Afterward, some of us actually created things and others just had some laughs...

Linda and her sister Janice gave me this gorgeous handmade jewelery box. Janice handmade the jewelery. It is an absolutely beautiful gift.

These are the lovely cards I received from some of the girls. I was quite surprised to receive a few gift certificates for Priceless. hmm Do ya think they're trying to tell me something? ;) Thanks ladies!

baby shower

Well, I posted these pics on facebook and then it dawned on me...Hello!!! I should be posting this to the blog which I haven't updated in forever!

Enjoy...

This past Saturday I hosted a shower for a friend of mine. I made a chocolate cake and carved it to the shape of a onesie. I was SO pleased with how it turned out even with my imperfections.

With help from my friend Rebecca, I made some paper bags for favors and filled them with paper shred, candy, and baby shaped confetti that my friend Rebecca punched out. Thank you for your help Rebecca! I greatly appreciated it.
I ordered personalized tags with little monkeys that matched a banner that I bought as well. The banner said, "Let's go bananas! Heather's having a baby boy!"

ScrapPink!

I spent this past Friday and Saturday at Priceless Scrapbooks for Scrap Pink. I truly didn't feel as though I accomplished a whole lot, but I did finish personalizing a Bo Bunny recipe book kit and I cut many many diecuts using the Cricut for a pregnancy book I am making for a friend.

Here are some pics from a great weekend. You can also check out more pictures on www.pricelessscrapbooksandmore.blogspot.com You will find a picture of myself and my fellow grand prize winner there as well. I won a lovely light pink leather Bo Bunny bag and some Bo Bunny goodies. The Saturday grand prize winner found an IPOD TOUCH in her bag! What an amazing prize package!

If we chose to we made a page with our posing picture to create a book with our memories of the weekend. This is what I put together.

Before I could get over to Priceless to start day 1 of the crop I had to finish decorating a cake and have it delivered. Here is a picture of the finished product. I was quite pleased with it except for my lovely spelling error. :( I was in such a hurry I didn't realize what my mistake. Hopefully the birthday girl didn't notice. It was for an 83 year old mother.

a few summer creations

Well, it's been much too long since I've posted. Sometimes I get so interested in doing something for a while and then....

Summer has come and gone so quickly, but I'm happy to get the fall term started.
For my birthday in June Nick bought me some cake decorating goodies. I really want to learn more about decorating cakes. Almost a year ago I took the Wilton course 1 for decorating but I missed the last class because I was sick. Of course the last one, in my opinion, was most important. Here is a picture of a cake I made for my best friend, Shelby who came and visited us from Texas. I was trying to make a specific design for the top border, but it didn't turn out the way I wanted. I definitely need to practice it.

A few months ago I made a cake for a baby shower for my boss. It was my first time carving a cake and creating a cake with this design. So, I was pretty pleased. Since then I've learned some techniques to smooth my frosting better. I airbrushed the bottom layer and used pink frosting on the top layer. It turned out a little bit more pink than I wanted on the bottom layer especially. Overall I was pretty happy with the results; I mean I am a beginner after all. Everybody loved it and thought it tasted good too!

I also made a journal for her (with Bonnie's help with the "spiralator")as well and many of my coworkers wrote well wishes for the new mom.

Hopefully, I'll keep things a little more updated in the future. ... Take care my online friends.
